The Department of Justice announced that it is investigating whether William & Mary violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by using race to award scholarships and program spots. 

Officials say the investigation centers on whether student benefits at William & Mary favor applicants of certain races, citing specific undergraduate, education and law school programs that consider diversity or give preference to underrepresented groups.

If the DOJ finds noncompliance and the university does not resolve the issue voluntarily, the agency warned it could suspend federal funding or initiate civil action.

Virginia health officials confirmed that President Donald Trump's recent executive order advocating for fewer routine childhood vaccines and separate immunizations will not alter Virginia's school requirements or public health policies.

The Virginia Department of Health reaffirmed its commitment to aligning with the American Academy of Pediatrics' immunization schedule, emphasizing that state policy remains unchanged despite federal directives.

Medical experts and pediatricians warned that the order could sow confusion and doubt surrounding vaccine safety, creating serious risks as measles cases surge across the country and state.
